Meet various representatives from NASA and the space industry, including special guest astronaut Buzz Aldrin (Lunar Module Pilot for Apollo 11 and one of the first two humans to walk on the moon), key naval officers, recovery pilots, and former USS Hornet crew.

Activities for families and visitors of all ages, including panel discussions, hands-on science activities, portable planetarium, moon rock displays, specialized Apollo-themed tours, and interactive exhibits.

Guests can view the Museum’s mobile quarantine facility (MQF), which was used to protect the Earth from potential “moon germs” during the conclusion of the Apollo 14 mission with astronauts Edgar Mitchell, Alan Shepard and Stuart Roosa. The Apollo 11 astronauts were also quarantined in an MQF onboard the USS Hornet upon their return to Earth.

The USS Hornet Museum would like to especially thank NASA Ames Research Center, who is a valued Participant in Splashdown 45.
