This site is devoted to the public commemoration of the Apollo 11 moon mission --  the first time humans walked on the moon and their safe recovery by the aircraft carrier USS Hornet upon their return to Earth. Visit here for the latest updates and information about the special guests, schedule of events, exhibits and activities, ticket packages, and more.

VIP Cocktail Reception

6:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M.

Enjoy open bar cocktails and hors d'oeuvres while mingling with Buzz Aldrin and other special guests! Business or cocktail attire requested. This is part of the Moonwalker Package, which also includes the following gourmet buffet dinner and gifts.

After spending the day exploring the many activities, enjoy a gourmet buffet dinner as you dine in the company of our special guests with the Dinner PackageBusiness or cocktail attire requested.

Harpist Lara Garner Lara Garner is both a Classical pianist and a Celtic harpist. She has performed in pubs, restaurants, concert halls, churches, castles, cathedrals, gardens, and stately homes in both the United States and Europe. She has lived and performed in both Rome and in Paris, where she developed her musical style. After booking her for our VIP reception, the Museum was pleased to discover an Apollo connection. Lara’s father worked in Aerospace most of his life and was a contractor who worked on the LM of Apollo 11 as well as other aspects of the program.

Musical entertainment provided by The Martini Brothers Band, which has been getting phenomenal response from Bay Area music and dance lovers who love their smooth 1930s, 40s and 50s style of swing from the golden era of "Hollywood Night Life." A favorite of the San Francisco social scene for over ten years, the Martini Brothers Band is both sophisticated and upbeat.

Musical entertainment provided by The Martini Brothers Band, which has been getting phenomenal response from Bay Area music and dance lovers who love their smooth 1930s, 40s and 50s style of swing from the golden era of "Hollywood Night Life." A favorite of the San Francisco social scene for over ten years, the Martini Brothers Band is both sophisticated and upbeat.

The Decobelles will also perform. The Decobelles are a troupe of charming young women who perform chorus dances of the Hollywood era at celebrations and special events. Their nostalgic look and choreographed dance routines are proven crowd pleasers.

The Swingin‘ Blue Stars of the USS Hornet is a group comprised of four talented singers from the East SF Bay area. They perform close harmony, swing-style music made popular by 1940’s female vocal groups such as the Andrews Sisters. They sing and dance to “people-pleasing” music, mixing saucy and romantic WWII tunes that appeal to a variety of audiences, whether young or elderly.
