Splashdown 45 - USS Hornet Museum Celebrates Apollo 11 Anniversary

Honoring the Past… Inspiring the Future…

This site is devoted to the public commemoration of the Apollo 11 moon mission --  the first time humans walked on the moon and their safe recovery by the aircraft carrier USS Hornet upon their return to Earth. Visit here for the latest updates and information about the special guests, schedule of events, exhibits and activities, ticket packages, and more.

Museum Closes – Daytime Event Ends

At this time, the ship will close to daytime-pass only visitors. Guests not attending the evening portion of the event will be asked to depart the ship.

For those interested in the evening events, please view the Moonwalker and Dinner Packages available.

For those attending both day and evening events, we will have a lounge area where visitors can rest between the events. It will also be available for those who arrive early for dinner and the reception and will offer soft beverages and light snacks.

A few guided tours will also be offered between 5:00pm–7:30pm. Special docent-led third deck and island tours will be available for those wishing to see the ship; comfortable flat-heeled shoes are recommended.

The USS Hornet Museum is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and a registered State and National Historic Landmark.
