Our partners are a very important part of the Museum’s Splashdown 45 event in which we celebrate the anniversary of man’s first landing on the moon and return to Earth, and the role the USS Hornet played in the astronauts’ safe recovery. The 2009 Splashdown event was attended by 3,500 people (mostly families) and was highly successful in terms of gaining widespread media attention. This event is part of the Museum’s overall youth STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) initiatives.
Splashdown 45 provides our partners an exciting venue for investing in the next generation of Americans. Proceeds from this event will help fund further development of our community outreach activities, such as our youth STEM education program, merit badges for scouts, etc. Participation will help the San Francisco Bay Area evolve into a nationally recognized center of excellence for space exploration education. Your organization can join the partners below and become a partner, too—to ensure your legacy as a key contributor for inspiring our youth to journey back to the moon—and beyond!
Splashdown 45 features joint activities with various organizations to help promote the Bay Area as a major space exploration destination for tourists. We thank them for their participation and contributions. So far, organizations that have signed on to help us develop, promote, and conduct Splashdown 45 include the following:
