Splashdown 45 - USS Hornet Museum Celebrates Apollo 11 Anniversary

Honoring the Past… Inspiring the Future…

This site is devoted to the public commemoration of the Apollo 11 moon mission --  the first time humans walked on the moon and their safe recovery by the aircraft carrier USS Hornet upon their return to Earth. Visit here for the latest updates and information about the special guests, schedule of events, exhibits and activities, ticket packages, and more.

Thank You for Your Participation

Dear Friends,

With your help, the USS Hornet Museum did it again! We brought a moonwalking astronaut to the Bay Area, to help educate and inspire our youth about space exploration. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, staff, and volunteers of the USS Hornet Museum, I thank you for participating in Splashdown 45. Over 3,000 people visited the ship to hear world-famous astronaut Buzz Aldrin share his memories of the epic Apollo 11 mission, as well as his vision for mankind’s future in space.

The educational exhibits set up by our partners and sponsors were enjoyed by young and old, from all socio-economic backgrounds. Hornet’s motto “Heritage of Excellence” was on full display, with wonderful contributions by you. Splashdown 45 was a day of education, patriotism, and community — core values upon which the United States is based, and which the USS Hornet Museum passionately embraces.

In addition to our space-based activities, we host numerous educational, social, and community events throughout the year! We hope you can join us for one or more of these celebrations.

Thank you, again, for your support of the USS Hornet Museum

Sincerely,

Randall Ramian
Chief Executive Officer
USS Hornet Museum
