Dr. Yvonne Cagle

"Prior to her selection to the NASA astronaut corps in 1996, she served with the U.S. Air Force as a Senior Flight Surgeon."

Dr. Yvonne Cagle was born in West Point, New York, but now considers Novato, California to be her hometown. She is a NASA astronaut and a doctor in medicine. Prior to her selection to the NASA astronaut corps in 1996, she served with the U.S. Air Force as a Senior Flight Surgeon.

In 2005, Dr. Cagle was assigned to NASA Ames as the lead Astronaut Science Liaison and Strategic Relationships Manager for Google and other Silicon Valley Partnerships. Dr. Cagle’s focus is preserving NASA space legacy data while, simultaneously, galvanizing NASA’s lead in global mapping, sustainable energies, green initiatives, and disaster preparedness.

Dr. Cagle is currently an advisor for the Commercial Reusable Suborbital Research Program. In 2008, Dr. Cagle retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Colonel. She recently received an honorary Ph.D. in Humanities from Fordham University.
